The Top Ten Things Environmentalists Need to Learn

The Top Ten Things Environmentalists Need to Learn.

A decent article on things that environmental groups should keep in mind. I'm not entirely sure I fully agree with some of the points especially the example for point 8, just because an organic farm might use twice the land doesn't necessarily mean it's worse for the environment than using half the land with heavy fertilizer and pesticide use.

Point 4 though "It is unreasonable to expect the general public will accept major reductions in living standards or comfort and convenience" is certainly worth considering though, and rather accurate I think!

Any way what do you people think of the list?

Most of them were pretty solid; in particular the points about changing cultural behaviour – people don't like to change.

That said, it did begin to seem like a bit of a cop-out in places. "The economy is more important" and the like began to sound like "we should just carry on as we are, it's no use trying anything else."

I wasn't really impressed. If I really cared a lot more I would probably write up a 'The Top Ten Things Economists Need to Learn'.

Both groups seem to see the world through thier respective idealogical tinted glasses. And they both seem to have some warped understandings of the things they see.

@matt yeah they did cop out a bit in a few places.

@era True though every one sees things with certain biases present, not alot that can really be done about it as far as I can see, though if possible it would be nice if they provided some background info about them selves or what there biases are likely to be.
